The Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies is pleased to release the newest entry in its Forum paper series, Fifth Generation Air Combat: Maintaining the Joint Force Advantage, by Maj Gen Jeff Harrigian and Col Max Marosko, USAF.
The growth of “fifth generation” aircraft in the US Air Force’s force structure over the next decade demands full understanding of their capabilities to ensure their potential is fully realized. It is this challenge that Harrigian and Marosko explore in their paper, laying out the characteristics of fifth generation aircraft, and describing how these assets can be leveraged in present and future operations.
