On April 9, the Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies team hosted the Air Chief of the Swedish Air Force Maj Gen Jonas Wikman and a delegation of his senior Swedish Air Force leadership. The discussion covered Sweden’s accession to NATO, its Nordic Air Power Concept, interoperability, and other areas of cooperation that will be the focus of an upcoming Aerospace Advantage podcast episode.

The Mitchell Institute is proud to foster the relationship between the Swedish, U.S., and other NATO member air forces and will continue regular engagements between our experts and those key leaders to enhance and objectively inform their discussions—to ultimately aid their approach to a mutual strategy. Dean of the Mitchell Institute Lt Gen Dave Deptula, USAF (Ret.), remarked, “We were honored to have an open conversation with Maj Gen Jonas Wikman and his team about the many challenges facing the U.S. Air Force and NATO, as well as the potential opportunities that the Swedish Air Force offer. At Mitchell we are dedicated to exploring ways to address our shared difficulties, encourage better cooperation, and positively direct our forces toward a better and more secure alliance in Europe and beyond.”
