The Mitchell Institute’s Spacepower Advantage Center of Excellence is pleased to announce that Charles Galbreath has joined our team as a Senior Fellow for Space Studies. This reflects Mitchell Institute’s commitment to helping empower the smart growth of spacepower in the national security enterprise.
Charles Galbreath is a retired United States Space Force Colonel, who previously served as the Deputy Chief Technology and Innovation Officer on the Headquarters United Space Force staff. He was a Command Space Operator with expertise in missile warning, space control, space launch, and ICBM operations. He was also a Senior Materiel Leader with experience developing advanced technology demonstration and prototype systems. Throughout his military career, Charles served in a variety of space operations, acquisition, test, and staff positions, and deployed to Afghanistan as the Space Liaison to Headquarters, International Security Assistance Force. He was an Air Force Fellow to the RAND Corporation from 2014 to 2015 and has extensive experience in developing Air Force, Space Force, Joint, and Combined plans, strategy, and policy. This wide-ranging background, and his firsthand experience in the creation of the U.S. Space Force as an independent service, make him a great fit for the MI-SPACE team.
Lt Gen David Deptula, USAF (Ret.), Dean of the Mitchell Institute, shared “Charles brings a number of unique experiences and perspectives to the Spacepower Advantage Center of Excellence. He’s developed policy and strategy, worked in joint environments, and holds a strong vision for the future of dominance in the space domain. I’m confident that he will be a major asset to our team.”
